To say I collect recipes is an understatement. For decades I’ve clipped recipes from magazines, newspapers, and our electric companies’ newsletter, stuffing them in boxes for later. I rarely actually made any of the recipes. I just collected them. 😄
I’m running out of room to store my boxes of recipes. So I started sorting through them and scanning in ones that still sound promising. I’m exchanging boxes of hard copies for computer folders of digital copies. 😆
Then I had an idea that would solve three problems at once.
Problem #1: Huge collection of unused recipes.
Problem #2: Same old meals over and over again. I was tired of rotating a small set of meals that complied with my husband’s dietary requirements (low carb, no dairy, no beans, no onions) and my daughter’s extreme pickiness (the girl doesn’t like bacon for goodness sake! Or apple pie. Or any kind of pie!)
Problem #3: A pressing need to revamp this website. I originally created it (in the late 1990s!) to advertise my Watkins business. Then Watkins changed their policy regarding their consultants’ personal websites, which meant I had to do a complete overhaul. I could no longer use this site to highlight the great Watkins products I use. However, I could still post recipes.
So then I thought: why not turn this into a blog about trying recipes? I could finally put my collection to good use, hopefully find meals my husband can eat (and that my daughter will), and comply with Watkins’ new policy—all while having fun.
I hope you enjoy my new venture into the tasty, the nasty, the hits and the flops. Bon appétit! 🍴
