Breakfast Syrup
I made French toast for Gem and myself the other day only to discover we were out of syrup! I knew the bottle was running low, but I was certain I had another in the cupboard. Nope. We had just enough for Gem’s French toast, but none for mine.
No problem. When I was a child, my dad made homemade syrup. Just three ingredients needed: corn syrup, brown sugar, and water. Mom always kept corn syrup on hand, and I do, too, although I rarely use it. My habit saved me from eating dry French toast! 😄
I briefly considered just pouring the straight corn syrup on it—that’s what Mom always did—but I’m glad Dad’s preference for dark syrup led him to create his own. 😊
