Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans optional

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350° F (175°C).
  • Grease the bottom only of an 8" square pan.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter, stirring every 20 seconds or so.
  • Mix melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until blended. Beat in cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder.
  • Pour into greased pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 25 – 30 minutes until center is set on top and a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out slightly gooey. Do not overcook.
