This recipe came with my bread maker and it’s become one of my favorites. It’s hard to stop at just one slice!

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 1 tbl butter or margarine, melted
  • 2 tbl sugar
  • tsp active dry yeast
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp dried marjoram
  • ½ tsp dried rosemary
  • ½ tsp dried basil
  • 2 cups flour
  • cooking spray

Directions

  • If using a mixer, use dough hook.
  • In mixing bowl, stir together warm water, butter, sugar, and yeast. Let sit five minutes or until mixture is foamy.
  • Stir in salt and herbs. Add flour one cup at a time. Mix until dough forms into a ball. If it's very sticky, sprinkle in more flour.
  • Dump out onto floured surface and knead dough until it's smooth.
  • Spray bread pan with cooking spray. Spread dough in pan and cover with waxed paper. Let rise until doubled. Punch down dough, cover, and let rise again until doubled.
  • Preheat oven to 350°. Bake for 20 – 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Makes 1 loaf.
